This guide is general information for foreign clients. It is not a substitute for advice on a specific Turkish legal matter.
Start with evidence
A debt collection strategy depends on the contract, invoices, delivery evidence, correspondence, acknowledgments and debtor identity. Weak documentation may change the route.
A demand letter is useful only if it serves a purpose
A demand letter can create pressure and open settlement. If the debtor has already ignored serious demands, direct enforcement or litigation strategy may be more efficient.
Objection risk should be priced into the plan
In Turkish enforcement practice, the debtor's response can affect timing and cost. The creditor should understand what happens if the claim is disputed.
Collection is not only winning on paper
The debtor's solvency, assets, trade registry information and enforcement possibilities matter. A realistic plan considers collection risk from the beginning.
